About Us

Located in the Syokimau Surburb just outside the Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi Kenya, Fountain of Hope Addiction Treatment Centre (FOHTC) is an affordable and Christian-based Rehabilitation Centre, Counselling and Wellness Centre and General Medical Centre. We are accessible by both the highway and the railway linking Mombasa and Nairobi.

We are a one-stop provider for wholesome treatment for drug addiction and medical treatment including detoxification and anti-abuse implantation using Naltrexone implants. We also offer a range of counselling services covering parenting, family and marital problems, schooling difficulties as well as workplace health education and counselling. We are a registered general medical centre and we offer diagnosis and treatment of general medical ailments on an outpatient and inpatient basis. This means that we wholesomely attend to our patients needs in body, mind and soul.

Since our inception in 2009, FOHTC has played an important role in helping people in addiction restore their sense of self-worth and return to productive lives. We have achieved this by taking a personalized approach to assisting people and families to recover from drug and substance dependence and restore their general health.

We believe that recovery based on initial seclusion and abstinence from alcohol and drugs provides the best opportunity to overcome addiction and redevelop healthy bodies, minds and spirits. In our in-patient centre in Syokimau, we provide a comprehensive addiction treatment service in a nurturing and peaceful environment that provides a sense of safety, acceptability and belonging. We treat our clients with respect, dignity, unconditional compassion and understanding, driven by our vision and deep commitment to achieving a society free of chemical dependency.

How We Came to Be and What We Do In the Community.

In the two years leading to its founding in 2009, a group of five counselling psychologists who were also former classmates, mothers to their families and family friends started a touring and motivational speaking club. They aimed to visit and know each other's home regions and in the process meet, speak to and motivate young people and women self-help groups in the regions they visited. They visited their rural home regions of Central, Eastern and Rift Valley Provinces of Kenya.

In the course of their visits, they encountered recurrent evidence of rampant drug and alcohol abuse especially among the youths in all the provinces they visited. They consulted and thought out an idea of opening up institutions to rehabilitate the affected people and empower communities to reverse the trend of rising substance abuse and addiction. It was this drive that led to FOHTC opening its doors in 2009 at a location in Ondiri in Kikuyu Town. The organisation then started admitting recovering addicts as well as conducting community anti-substance abuse sensitization campaigns in the surrounding community. In 2014, the centre moved from Ondiri to Syokimau and opened its modern centre in 2017. To date, the facility has admitted and rehabilitated hundreds of patients and their families. It has also carried out community sensitization campaigns in Nairobi and the surrounding counties, targeting young people and their families in school communities, church communities, work places and the general community during public events. Our centre also offers free rehabilitation to deserving addicts who are identified in the community and brought to us through our community networks. To this end financial limitations often hamper this good work we do and we continue to appeal for donations from well-wishers so as to sustain our work.

So, whatever your alcohol or substance abuse-related health challenges are, just talk to us! We are professional, we are multi-disciplinary, we are experienced, we are friendly and compassionate. We are registered and licensed by the Kenya Medical Practitioners' and Dentists Board (KMPDB), the the National Authority for Campaign Against Drug Abuse (NACADA) and we are accredited by the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF).
